Weer Africa’s Mission Statement
Our goal as a non-profit organization is to provide culturally-centered leadership development, programming, timely information and research support on best practices related to improving the health and well-being of families in the global south and US dwelling immigrant and refugee populations from the global south and partnering communities.
We are particularly interested in empowering communities to prevent and manage non-communicable diseases (NCD’s) such as diabetes, hypertension and cancer. We take a holistic life course approach to NCD prevention where we focus on social determinants of NCD’s beginning in childhood (e.g. nutrition and education).
Our philosophy is that sustainable and useful programming and products work best when grounded in the local culture and created in partnership with local stakeholders.
